Geography is but a secondary attribute, 2015

The corner of a room. The persistent mental image of this corner, the texture of its walls, the electric lights forming this triangle shape where the walls meet the ceiling. Cleanness dominates this empty space, hermetically closed and purely functional. Making these photographs was the first step towards remembering a traumatic memory. The photographs give the corner context, they offer the right palette of colors and show the bodies that inhabit the space around. They are the mirrors of this painful and incomplete memory. A cage is a simple geometric form where the power structure is clearly defined in advance.

The series was part of my diploma project for the MFA at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. It was awarded the European Photography Award 2015, and was exhibited at the Photography Foundation of Modena, Italy.
